“Prayer is the courage to persevere. It is the struggle to overcome our own weakness and lack of confidence in ourselves. It is the act of impressing in the very depths of our being the conviction that we can change the situation without fail. Prayer is the way to destroy all fear.”
- Daisaku Ikeda, Buddhist philosopher, World Tribune, Dec. 3, 2004, p. 8
Prayer in Buddhism is an active determination to overcome our challenges and realize our dreams. As Buddhists, we chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, described as the fundamental law of life and the universe. Chanting this mantra awakens us to the unlimited potential within ourselves, empowering us with hope and purpose while revitalizing our life at its core. It is the difference between drowning under nonstop waves of obstacles and surfing them with a sense of thrill and excitement, confident in our success. The important thing is to never give up.
